Family pizza night is always a big hit for both adults and kids. There’s just something about a warm, cheesy slice of pizza that instantly puts a smile on everyone’s face. Making your own pizza can save you money and is a healthier option than heating up a frozen pizza or ordering in.
If you’re looking for a healthier alternative, this recipe for sweet potato pizzas from Sweat and Cinnamon is perfect for you! We used this recipe as a guide, but stuck with your basic pizza toppings.
Here’s how we made it:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Slice the sweet potatoes into about ½-inch slices. Place them on a sheet tray and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper if desired. Put them in the oven for 20-30 minutes, turning over halfway through. Take them out when they are cooked, yet still slightly firm. Remove them from the oven and add sauce and cheese (and any other toppings you like!) Put them back in the oven under the broiler for about 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Enjoy!
This recipe is great for picky children, gluten-free eaters, or people trying to lose weight. Pack it to go in your bento box with apples, strawberries, veggies and hummus for a delicious picnic or work lunch! Bonus: you can use any leftover sweet potatoes to make sweet potato chips!
