January is National Soup Month, which we think is so appropriate since there’s nothing better than a hot cup of soup and a perfectly toasted grilled cheese sandwich on a cold day. This simple lunch will never fail to bring a smile to your child’s face when they open up their bento box at school. We bet this lunch can also help you beat the winter blues!
To make this simple lunch, grab your favorite tomato soup brand. Heat it up on the stovetop or in the microwave. Here's a tip to warm up your bento jar before adding the soup: While the soup is heating up, add boiling water to the jar and shut the lid (water from a Keurig works fine). Keep the hot water in there for about 10 minutes.
When the soup is ready, pour the water out and add the soup to the hot bento jar. This is a great trick for keeping any food hot until lunchtime!
Next, slice up an apple (or any other fruit you have on hand) and add it to your medium container. We also made a grilled cheese sandwich with whole-grain bread and American cheese. Using our star sandwich cutter to slice the sandwich adds an extra fun accent to this lunch!
We also can’t have soup without some type of crackers, so we filled our bento divider with Goldfish. Pack it all to go in your bento sleeve and you’ll have a delicious meal that’ll warm you up in no time.
This effortless lunch is a great way to make anyone’s day. How do you beat the winter blues?
