Today is one of our favorite days: National Popcorn Day! Homemade popcorn is a good source of whole grains and a delicious snack to boot. We love adding it to our bento boxes to create a balanced lunch.
There are so many different types of popcorn you can make, whether you prefer sweet or spicy. By experimenting with different spices, you can create some pretty interesting flavor profiles!
One of our favorite popcorn recipes is this apple pie popcorn. It satisfies our sugar craving, but doesn’t overdo it on sweetness.
Here’s how to make this apple pie popcorn:
Air-pop your popcorn using your preferred method. In a small bowl, melt your coconut oil (about 15 seconds). Once it’s melted, mix in vanilla, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour mixture over your popcorn and mix with a large spatula until all popcorn is evenly coated.
Put it in your large bento container to share. (But we won’t tell if you eat it all on your own!) 🙂
